Takes a Team to Prepare for a Wedding at Sonshine Barn Wedding and Event Center

November 26, 2022

Dear Grandchildren:

Today, I’d like to share about our business, Sonshine Barn Wedding and Event Center. It was about seven years ago when we launched our business to serve a couple and their families, when we converted our farm into a wedding event center. When we made this decision, I really didn’t comprehend what we were getting involved in. Thanks to people like Sarah Ann, Jessica, and many others, they all have made the difference.

Over the past seven years, we’ve served over 150 brides and their groom, along with their families and friends. That means we have hosted over 22,000 people at our Sonshine Barn Wedding and Event Center. Writing this last paragraph blows my mind about how many we’ve served.

What’s amazing, we have a small team of dedicated people that do an outstanding job in helping to make a wedding successful.

Our team of 25 does their part before the couple and their families arrive on the weekend and only a few meet and work directly with the couple. Everyone does their job, knowing what they do is important for a successful wedding.

Whether it’s tending the flowers, the lawn, or the facilities, and cleaning the rooms, stacking chairs, or ensuring decorations are spot on, and posting on social media or doing the bookkeeping, these tasks always happen because people care about doing their job of preparing for the weekend with excellence. Again, they all work without seeing the end results or meeting the couple and their families.

When I worked at Glen’s Market, our family grocery business, we had 26 stores and about 2,600 employees. A similar dynamic occurred. Our customers were served mostly by cashiers, baggers, and department employees, but the entire team needed to contribute to support those serving our customers ensuring they were happy.

We had this saying, “We were people working with people serving people.”

OK, Grandpa, what are you saying? As you work or serve in life, remember, always giving your best is your greatest option. It’s a Wonderful Life does an excellent job of showing how our life can be transformed from our decisions and the vital part we play in each other’s life. So remember, God has a special plan for you! Always!

We just finished serving our 27th bride this year and we want to thank our team for doing their part in making the 27 weekends a tremendous success.

Always know how much I love you,

Grandpa
